English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) ProgramPURPOSE: The purpose of this course is to help students communicate in English, and allow them to acquire English language skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. The program is designed to develop all components of language – speaking, listening comprehension, reading, writing, grammar, and pronunciation – in content. The methodology is communicative, integrative, and student centered, as recommended by current research on language acquisition and adult learning. Miami-Dade County Public Schools Adult ESOL program offers all approved courses in numerous on-campus and off-campus classes. Adult ESOL program services students 16 years of age or above. Classes are for students who reside in Miami-Dade County.
